EU Foreign Policy Head Describes Gaza Situation as ‘Grave’
Although an accord was reached last week with Israel regarding the provision of humanitarian assistance to Gaza, Kallas told reporters before an EU-Southern Neighborhood ministerial gathering in Brussels that mere promises are insufficient.
She highlighted the distinction between formal agreements and their actual enforcement, stating, “One thing is to agree on paper, but the other thing is to see this agreement being implemented. We don’t see enough improvement on the ground.”
Kallas noted an increase in aid convoys entering Gaza but maintained that this remains “not enough,” urging a more robust execution of the arrangement.
“Everybody has stressed that they want to see improvement of the situation on the ground for the people,” she said. “That is definitely the question we will have today.”
Additionally, she confirmed that the ministerial meeting would address issues related to Iran, including nuclear talks and wider regional matters.
