Russia Signals Willingness to Resume Ukraine Talks
"They want to see this dialogue in Washington, they want to see it in Europe, allegedly," Peskov stated.
His remarks followed U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement on Monday that the United States plans to supply weapons to Ukraine through the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Trump also issued a warning, vowing to impose "severe tariffs" on Russia if a ceasefire is not secured within 50 days.
Peskov described Trump's comments as "very serious," suggesting they included elements directly aimed at Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"We certainly need time to analyze what was said in Washington," he added.
Russia and Ukraine previously conducted two rounds of face-to-face negotiations in Istanbul, Türkiye—first on May 16 and again on June 2. According to Putin, both parties had agreed to a third round of dialogue, contingent on the completion of a prisoner exchange and the return of soldiers' remains, as arranged in earlier sessions.
