Trump Issues Warning to BRICS
Speaking at the White House on Friday, Trump criticized what he described as BRICS’ efforts to weaken the dollar, stating, “They wanted to try and take over the dollar, the dominance of the dollar... And I said, anybody that’s in the BRICS consortium of nations, we’re going to tariff you 10%.”
Emphasizing the crucial role of the dollar, Trump reiterated that the US government will do everything in its power to maintain the currency’s global supremacy.
"The reserve currency is so important. You know, if we lost that, that would be like losing a World War."
Trump further declared that Washington "can never let anyone play games," asserting that he has chosen to respond with a strong stance. "If they ever really form in a meaningful way, it will end very quickly," he warned.
Trump also claimed that his threat to impose a 10% tariff on imports from BRICS nations had caused a significant disruption to the group’s summit in Rio de Janeiro earlier this month.
“They had a meeting the following day and almost nobody showed up,” he said.
