Latakia Faces Temporary Curfew After Attack Incidents
The Latakia Governorate announced that the Internal Security Command ordered the restriction beginning at 5 p.m. local time (1400 GMT) and continuing until 6 a.m. Wednesday (0300 GMT).
Authorities clarified that the curfew excludes emergency situations, healthcare workers, ambulance teams, and firefighting units. Citizens were urged to strictly observe the directive and cooperate with security forces, with warnings that violators would face legal consequences.
Interior Ministry spokesperson Nour al-Din al-Baba emphasized that the ministry will not accept any unlawful or reckless behavior, regardless of the reasoning, and reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding Syrian citizens under state authority and the rule of law.
He appealed to Latakia residents to respect legal obligations and avoid actions that could weaken public safety or national cohesion, such as incitement, irresponsible conduct, or following individuals intent on spreading disorder.
Baba stressed that the Syrian government rejects acts of vandalism or assaults against people or their property, labeling such actions as clear breaches of the law that will be met with legal measures. He added, “Individual mistakes cannot be generalized or used to justify further violations,” in remarks reported by a news agency.
