Following up last year's album “Sobbing Ecstasy”, CAPYAC have released a handful of singles including this funk guitar-laden, feel-good indie electronic track

BERLIN, BERLIN, GERMANY, September 10, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Returning with a catchy late-summer banger, CAPYAC brought “Big CrUsh En3rgY” to life across studios in Berlin and Los Angeles, catalyzing the experiences they’ve had in both cities, touring internationally, making friends and lovers along the way; an homage to found family and fleeting crushes alike. Out today, the song combines their signature elements of indie soul and emotional funk – juxtaposing syncopation and introspection to maximal effect.

After recent singles “Fly Forever” touted their French House sensibilities, “Opulence Machine” their synth pop tendencies and “Rye Bread” their hip-house pedigree, this new track revisits the band’s perfect balance of funky disco overtones with an indie electronic underbed.

With a guitar-driven nod to Tom Misch or FKJ, the track opens up on a jazzy yet hypnotic tone, with the arrangement swelling into a syncopated drumbeat reminiscent of classic Anderson .Paak while melodies swirl like early Toro y Moi. The track showcases vocal moments from each member of the trio, sultry keyboard, funky synth bass and ad libs from Delwin Campbell and remarkably dreamy vocals from Obie Puckett.

Vocalist/guitarist Eric Peana singing “said I’d let you know, just how I’m feeling ‘cause you know there’s big crush energy, coming through the ceiling” over his infectious guitar riff aptly epitomizes the emotional funk era of their recent material. Straddling a solemn tone alongside chaotic funk is one of CAPYAC’s exceptional abilities as they’ve always managed to pull at the heartstrings while also keeping the body moving.

On the songwriting process, Peana elaborates —- “As it stands there are roughly ten versions of this song on our hard drive. At some point we decided to try live drums leading to a remarkable moment where our collaborator Harry Terrell recorded drums while receiving pleasures from undisclosed persons for three and a half hours. In another marathon session Obie and Delwin decided to delete 90% of the parts, replacing them with the horny undertones of a vast Irish bog- an alternate version we may release one day.”

Fleshed out live and given their improvisational treatment, the band performed the song across a slew of SoCal club dates and UK field festivals as the recording took shape in the studio. Known for their unpredictable live shows, CAPYAC always interject a dose of theatrics, improvisation and absurdity across the musical and visual concert experience. “Big CrUsh En3rgY” promises to be another fan-favorite and the perfect bedrock for funky synth solos, slinky guitar riffs or a rhythmic rubber-chicken break.

CAPYAC is a surreal dance band born in Austin and rebuilt between Berlin and Los Angeles. What began as an irreverent experimental project has grown into a shape-shifting live act whose music and performances are inseparable: tightly constructed songs become springboards for improvisation, choreography, audience interaction and sudden departures into the unknown.
